Still Life paintings involve almost any subject that sits still long enough for me to take a photo of – including my cats.
I visit antique shops, grocery stores, places that sell children’s toys, shoes, jewelry and everything else that fits into the “sit still” category. I walk along 7th Street in St. Paul and take pictures of what’s in the windows, and then the reflections in those windows. Parked cars are interesting, and so are libraries and second-hand shops. And so are people, although they are not usually thought of as being still life! Infinite subjects for artists abound everywhere.
